Patna: Once again CM Nitish Kumar has raised the demand of giving special state to Bihar. He said that Bihar is 'deserving' to get the status of a special state. Along with this, he reiterated his demand. Kumar, who has been demanding special status for Bihar for many years, said that with this the state will be entitled to special facilities of the Center and it is necessary for Bihar. In a discussion with reporters on the sidelines of the weekly public dialogue, the CM said that according to the NITI Aayog, Bihar is a backward state.
The same he questioned, 'Even after all the efforts of the (Bihar) government, the growth rate is not enough. That's why we are demanding special status for Bihar. what's wrong with that.' Responding to questions from reporters, Kumar said that NITI Aayog has used old parameters to assess Bihar and its evaluation process is not justified as the state is developing every year in all areas.
Talking further, the CM said that to get the status of a special state, we had campaigned earlier also. We are keeping our demands. He said that in the recent NITI Aayog report, Bihar has been described as the most backward. He told that we have got the opportunity to work from the year 2005, how much we have worked since then and from where we have taken Bihar. Even after that, if Bihar is behind, then it is because our area is less but our population is very high.
