Patna: The Bihar government on Monday signed an agreement with Tata Technologies under which Tata Technology will convert around 150 Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) across the state into Centres of Excellence (CoE). A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in Patna in the presence of Labour Resource Development Minister Jibesh Kumar. The project envisages the up-gradation of 149 ITIs at a total expenditure of Rs.4606 crore.
According to the information received, in the first phase, 60 centres will be upgraded to COE by September this year, while work on the remaining 89 will be completed by June 2023. A statement issued by Tata Technologies said that the company will also deploy 298 training personnel along with industry partners and facilitate advanced equipment.
Labour Resource Development Minister Jibesh Kumar said on the occasion, "The transformation of ITI into centres of excellence will change the technology landscape of the state and create better skills and employment opportunities for the candidates. The state will become a potential investment destination for investors who want to adopt smart technologies for industry and manufacturing.'' He said that these Centres of Excellence will facilitate 23 new technologically advanced business courses, incorporating some of the latest technologies such as electric vehicles, robotics, digital manufacturing, LOT automation and workmanship.
