Patna: Six individuals from Jharkhand's Deoghar district were detained by the Bihar Police in connection with alleged irregularities in the NEET medical entrance exam, an official confirmed on Saturday.
According to SDPO Ritvik Srivastava of Deoghar Sadar, the suspects were apprehended from a residence near AIIMS-Deoghar in the Devipur police station area on Friday night based on information provided by Bihar Police.
"The Bihar Police alerted us, and upon verification, they were taken into custody. All suspects have been transferred to Bihar," Srivastava informed the media.
The individuals were reportedly residing at the house of Jhunu Singh. They have been identified as Paramjit Singh alias Bittu, Chintu alias Baldev Kumar, Kaju alias Prashant Kumar, Ajit Kumar, Rajiv Kumar alias Karu, all hailing from Nalanda district in Bihar, along with Panku Kumar, as per a statement issued by the Deoghar Police.
The NEET-UG exam, conducted by the NTA on May 5, saw approximately 24 lakh candidates participating nationwide. Following the June 4 announcement of results, allegations surfaced regarding question paper leaks in states like Bihar, among other reported irregularities.
