PATNA: Following the latest attack on Nitish Kumar in Bakhtiyarpur, Bihar police have drawn up a plan to improve the chief minister's security, an official said.

The blueprint was presented at a home department high-level meeting in Patna, where every detail of the security structure was considered. The ADGP security, Bacchu Singh Meena, has issued directives to every district magistrate and state police head to make the necessary arrangements whenever the chief minister visits the district.

As per the directive, district administrations must provide security in accordance with the Verma committee's 1991 recommendations. In its report to the central government, the Verma committee identified specific security parameters.

Meena emphasized that the Bihar government will not tolerate the chief minister's security failure. Officers will be held responsible for their actions.  "Prior to the chief minister's visit, the Police would have to take adequate security steps to ensure that no unwanted people or strangers get close to him," Meena added.

On March 27, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was attacked by a mentally ill individual while visiting Bakhtiyarpur town in Patna district. He attacked Nitish Kumar in the back before being overcome by Bihar police commandos from the special branch.
