PATNA: Bihar's health department detected a novel Omicron variant on Thursday at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS). The new variant BA.12 is ten times more harmful than BA.2, which was detected during the country's third Corona wave.
Prof Dr Namrata Kumari, head of the IGIMS microbiology department, said: "We began genome sequencing of samples of the Omicron variant of Corona in response to the increased number of Covid cases. One of the 13 samples tested positive for BA.12 strains. BA.2 strains were found in the remaining 12 samples." "We have requested that all positive Omicron samples be traced back to their source. BA.12 is a ten-fold more hazardous version than BA.2. However, there is no reason to be concerned. To protect yourself from it, you must take precautions "She stated her case.
The BA.12 variation was discovered for the first time in the United States. There were two to three cases in Delhi, and one case has recently been discovered in Patna.
