New Delhi: Corona epidemic is once again gaining momentum in the country. Amidst the rapidly increasing cases of corona infection, the central government may soon reduce the gap between the second dose of the vaccine and the booster dose to 6 months. At present, a booster dose can be administered only after 9 months of the second dose of corona.
According to the report, officials have informed that a meeting of the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NTAGI) is going to be held on April 29. In this meeting, the advisory group can recommend reducing the time between the second dose and the booster dose. Earlier ICMR and other international research institutions have suggested that the antibody level decreases after 6 months of taking both doses of the corona vaccine. In such a situation, the immune response increases by giving a booster dose at this time. At present, people above the age of 18 years are allowed to have a booster dose 9 months after the second dose of the corona vaccine.
Officials related to this matter said that the gap between the second dose of the corona vaccine and the booster dose can be reduced from 9 months to 6 months soon, based on the suggestions and study results by scientists at home and abroad. However, the final decision will be taken on the suggestion of NTAGI.
