He was born on 13 July 1931 in Lahore and his real name was Krishna Sarin. It is said that there was no partition at that time, but when the partition happened, Krishna Sarin's family came to Kanpur. After that when Krishna Sarin grew up, she participated in college plays.

After that one day, after seeing the advertisement of Talent Contest in the newspaper, she made her his mind to go to the movies. Her family did not even know and she started dreaming of going to Mumbai. She then protested when her parents came to know of this but Bina went on hunger strike. Finally her parents agreed and Bina applied for the contest. She won and got her first film as an actress, Kishore Sahu's "Kali Ghata". It is said that Bina's luck shone after this film and she acted in many hit films. Although Bina Rai did more films with Ashok Kumar, Premnath and Bharat Bhushan, she became famous with the films 'Anarkali' in 1953, 'Veilat' in 1960 and 'Taj Mahal' in 1963.

His heroics in these films were Pradeep Kumar and Bina's pairing with him became a hit. The actress received the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for the film 'Ghunghat'. Let us tell you that Bina married Premnath, who was called Villain at that time, but in the year 1992 she separated from him.
