The beauty queen, who has not taken retirement from acting, has lately been enjoying the quiet life with her adorable family -- husband and Indian tennis legend Mahesh Bhupathi and their 6-year-old daughter, Saira. Lara Dutta has grabbed a degree in Economics and a minor in communication from University of Mumbai.
She made her acting debut with 2003 film Andaaz, for which she has won her a Filmfare Best Female Debut Award & Screen Best Female Debut Award.
Lara was crowned Miss Universe 2000 and Miss Intercontinental 1997. She was also the second woman from India to be crowned Miss Universe, and has been the only delegate from India to win the crown since.
In the same year, Priyanka Chopra and Dia Mirza won the title of Miss World, and Miss Asia Pacific respectively.
She is good at English and Hindi but can speak Punjabi, Kannada and French as well. She has won the annual Gladrags Megamodel competition in her native India in 1995.
Angered at the leading fashion magazine "Gladrags" for allegedly using her photographs for a forthcoming modeling contest without her permission, Lara has filed a suit in the Bombay High Court.
