FIR filed against three for selling Chicken Biryani from ancient Shiva temple

Kanpur: Police have registered an FIR against three persons for selling biryani sitting on a temple platform in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The case pertains to the ancient Shiva temple at Chamanganj. The temple was allegedly occupied by a particular community and for a few days there was a business of selling Chicken biryani.

On receiving information about the case, Mayor Pramila Pandey had objected to it and demanded action and directed to remove biryani shop. The Kanpur Police Commissioner said on May 27 that a case has been registered at Thana Bajaria for selling Chicken biryani on the platform of an ancient Shiva temple in Thana Bajaria Mohalla Baconganj Sonar Lane. Three persons have been nominated. The utensils lying on the spot have been removed. Now, further legal action will be taken.

The case came to Pramila Pandey's cognizance during her visit to Chamanganj, a Muslim dominated area. She had gone to inspect an ancient temple near Baconganj Baba Sweet on Wednesday (May 26, 2021) by a municipal team and police. Meanwhile, they found that biryani was being sold on the platform of the ancient Shiva temple in the street of Sunar on the side of Baba Sweet and biryani was being cooked in the temple premises itself. After which police registered a case against Bekanganj residents Mohammad Siraj, Mohammad Noor Alam and Mohammad Farid under sections of hurting religious sentiments.
