Chandigarh: The tone of the BJP, which had earlier announced to be a loner in the Haryana body elections, has now changed. The BJP on Thursday took a U-turn and announced to jointly contest the civic polls with the alliance partner Jannayak Janta Party (JJP). The announcement has intensified the discussions in the political corridors over the relationship between the two parties. At the same time, the infighting in Congress continues amid preparations for the Rajya Sabha elections.

The announcement by the BJP comes at a time when the JJP had announced its support to independent candidate Kartikeya Sharma two days ago. The special thing is that now both the parties are supporting the independent candidate. At the same time, Sharma's entry in the picture of the Rajya Sabha elections has increased the tension of Congress. BJP state unit president Prakash Dhankhar held a press conference with Digvijay Chautala of the JJP. He said that both parties will soon release the latest list of candidates.

"On the one hand where the JJP will contest elections in four councils. According to the seat-sharing of the alliance, the BJP will field candidates in the remaining 14 seats.'' The JJP will contest in Tohana, Narwana, Mandi Dabwali and Nuh. Recently Congress had announced that the party will not contest the body elections on its symbol. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced to enter the electoral fray on its symbol. At present, the opposition party seems to be in a split ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections.
