New Delhi: The Appointment of two new national spokespersons has been announced by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday. Shazia Ilmi and Mumbai's Prem Shukla, who left the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and joined the BJP, have been appointed as new national spokespersons by the saffron party.

According to a press release issued by BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh, party national president, JP Nadda has sealed the appointment of Prem Shukla, Shazia Ilmi as the national spokesperson. Shazia Ilmi has expressed gratitude to the central leadership after being appointed national spokesperson. Shazia Ilmi tweeted from her official Twitter handle, 'I am extremely grateful to you for giving the responsibility of becoming an official spokesperson. Thank you! Happy Eid to all of you!'

Tell you that Shazia Ilmi has been a TV journalist before entering politics. She left journalism and joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Shazia Ilmi also contested the Lok Sabha elections in 2014 but lost. Shazia Ilmi quit the Aam Aadmi Party in 2014, since 2015 she has been a member of the BJP.
