New Delhi: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb is scheduled to hold a public meeting on December 13 but the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) central leadership has asked for its cancellation. A group of BJP MLAs is sitting open against CM Biplab Deb. The public meeting on behalf of CM Deb is seen as a demonstration of his power. Recently, BJP national secretary and Tripura in-charge Vinod Sonkar has said, 'Biplab Deb was informed that he does not need to do any such program.'

He also said, 'The people of Tripura have given their blessings to the BJP and the Chief Minister should continue to serve them. If there is any issue in the party organization, it will be resolved.' Before this, CM Biplab Deb had said, 'He will hold a public meeting on December 13 at Swami Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala and will question the public about his continuing as CM.'

He further said, 'He will ask whether he should continue as the Chief Minister'. After his statement, Sonkar talked to BJP President JP Nadda about CM Deb, but then Nadda spoke to CM Deb and he was denied any program like a public meeting.
