BJP Candidate's Convoy Attacked During Voting in Jhargram Lok Sabha Seat

Kolkata: BJP candidate Prannath Tudu's car came under attack during the voting process in the Jhargram Lok Sabha seat in West Bengal. The incident occurred in the Gadbeta area, where bricks were hurled at Tudu's car, resulting in injuries to two security personnel. Tudu himself sustained a head injury and was subsequently hospitalized. The Trinamool Congress alleged that the BJP was responsible for instigating unrest in the area.

Pranat Tudu, a senior BJP leader and candidate in Jhargram, reported that his convoy was targeted while en route to Gadbeta due to complaints of BJP agents being denied entry into certain polling stations. He stated that the road was suddenly blocked by some individuals, followed by an attack with bricks by alleged TMC members. In the ensuing confrontation, two CISF soldiers accompanying Tudu were injured and required medical attention.

A significant police presence was dispatched to the area to restore order. However, the local TMC leadership refuted the allegations, accusing Tudu of disrupting the peaceful polling process. According to a TMC spokesperson, BJP candidates were intimidating voters, leading to anger and protests from villagers. Additionally, vehicles belonging to various media outlets were reportedly vandalized by the mob.

The incident took place in Moglapata village, part of the Gadveta assembly constituency in Jhargram. Upon Tudu's arrival, villagers surrounded him and began chanting slogans, prompting an escalation of violence with the pelting of bricks and stones. Despite the presence of security guards, Tudu was forced to flee the scene, while central force soldiers also attempted to intervene to control the situation.

The BJP candidate's car sustained damage, with its windows shattered by bricks. Tudu himself suffered a head injury during the attack and was taken to a nearby primary health center for treatment. Central forces accompanying him worked to restore calm amidst the chaos.
