Lucknow: BJP (BJP) candidate Neeraj Shekhar has been elected unopposed as Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh on Monday. Neeraj Shekhar was declared MP in the Rajya Sabha by-election after the withdrawal period expired. In fact, no other candidate had enrolled for the Rajya Sabha by-election.
On August 14, Neeraj Shekhar filed his nomination as BJP candidate. Neeraj Shekhar, who left the Samajwadi Party (SP) and joined the BJP, resigned from the Rajya Sabha on July 15. Neeraj Shekhar, who has now become Rajya sabha member after being elected unopposed, will end his term on November 25, 2020. Neeraj Shekhar became the first MP to win the by-election after his father and former PM Chandrasekhar passed away.
He had reached Parliament in 2009, but in 2014, he suffered a setback amid the Modi wave. However, he was made Rajya Sabha MP by the Samajwadi Party (SP). He was annoyed at the lack of a ticket from the SP in the Lok Sabha elections 2019 and campaigned to win the BJP in the elections.
