AHMEDABAD: The Election Commission has announced the date for the by-elections in six assembly seats in Gujarat. Elections will be held here on October 21. The BJP has released its candidate list for these by-elections. Veteran OBC leader and former Congress MLA Alpesh Thakor have been fielded from Radhanpur assembly constituency.
UP by-election: BJP nominated son of vegetable seller as a candidate for elections
Jeevaraj Bhai Jagat Bhai Patel from Tharad Assembly, Ajmalbhai Wallaji Thakor from Kheralu, Dhawal Singh Jala from Bayad, Jagdeshbhai Patel from Amraiwadi and Jignesh Bhai Sewak from Lunavada have been fielded. Thakor, who was elected on a Congress ticket in 2017, resigned from the post of MLA to join the BJP. He will now contest from Radhanpur, the seat he had won earlier. Another leader of the Congress, Dhawal Singh Narendra Singh Jala, will contest from Bayad on a BJP ticket.

According to the statement issued by the BJP office, the Central Election Committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party finalized these names. Of these 38 seats, 10 seats Uttar Pradesh, six seats Gujarat, five seats Kerala, four seats Assam, two seats Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Sikkim and one seat each in Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Odisha, Rajasthan and Is from Telangana. By-elections are going to be held on October 21 in 51 assembly seats of different states of the country. State assembly elections are to be held in Haryana and Maharashtra on the same day. The BJP is releasing the list of candidates after PM Modi returned from a foreign tour.
