BANGALORE: Former chief minister of Karnataka and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader BS Yediyurappa on Sunday, the decision regarding whether or not his son would run for office from the Shikaripura constituency would be made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP Chairman JP Nadda.
Yediyurappa announced earlier on Friday that he would not be running for office from the Shikaripura constituency in the upcoming Assembly elections. He asked voters to support his son BY Vijayendra instead.
While speaking to reports, Yediyurappa said : "After giving in to the Shikaripurans' demands that I turn it over to Vijayendra, I made a speech on Friday. However, the BJP leaders' choice in this matter is definitive." "I made a statement in response to the request of the Shikaripura residents, but Vijayendra has the ability to win in any area, even the Old Mysore region. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP National President J P Nadda will follow the party's leadership, especially the high command, in making their decisions "he said.
"My Friday comment has caused confusion. I will not run for office in the assembly. The residents of Shikaripura insisted on running in the subsequent election, nevertheless. "I have only offered counsel. The top echelon of the party will select Vijayendra's district of representation. Vijayendra would run in the district that Modi, Amit Shah, and Nadda have recommended "He went on to say.
He asserted that Siddaramaiah's claim that Vijayendra participated in the illegal examination for police sub-inspector recruitment is untrue "A statement like that does nothing to enhance the opposition party leader's standing. He is acting as if he is a thief. He commanded Siddaramaiah to apologise to the state's citizens."
"Will abide by party leaders' diktat", says Yediyurappa
