HYDERABAD: In celebration of Hyderabad Liberation Day, women BJP leaders and workers rode bikes from the Bhagyalaxmi temple at the iconic Charminar on Thursday.
The participants rode motorbikes from the historical monument to the Assembly, where they paid respects to India's first Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, while waving national flags and shouting national anthems.
The event was directed by G. Kishan Reddy, the Union Minister for Tourism and Culture. It was put on by the BJP Mahila Morcha.
To get to Sardar Patel's statue in front of the Assembly building, the rally passed through the crowded Gulzar Houz, Patthergatti, Madina Circle, Nayapul, Afzalgunj, Siddi Amber Bazar, Moazzam Jahi Market, and Nampally. Kishan Reddy and other BJP leaders decorated Sardar Patel's statue as a sign of respect.
To commemorate 75 years since the former Hyderabad State joined the Indian Union, the Union Ministry of Culture is planning lavish celebrations on Hyderabad Liberation Day.
The bike rally was a part of the year-long festivities, which began on Wednesday with the opening of a photo and art exhibition by Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan. Archival photos related to the former Hyderabad State and its fusion with India on September 17, 1948 are on display in the exhibition.
Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, will raise the flag and inspect a parade during the major event, which will take place on September 17 at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad.
The chief ministers of Telangana (K. Chandrashekhar Rao), Maharashtra, and Karnataka were invited as guests of honour for the opening ceremony of the Telangana event commemorating "Hyderabad Liberation Day" by Union Culture Minister G. Kishan Reddy. The entire state was a part of the Hyderabad princely state, which also included three districts in Karnataka and five in Maharastra.
National Integration Day versus Hyderabad Liberation Day: The TRS-led Telangana government refers to it as "National Integration Day," whereas the BJP-led central government and the saffron party leaders in both the Center and Telangana refer to it as "Hyderabad Liberation Day."
The Telangana cabinet had already resolved to hold the "Vajrotsavalu of Telangana National Integration" opening ceremony over three days, on September 16, 17, and 18, 2022, on a large scale throughout the state.
