BJP: Homosexuality not normal, it's against Hindutva

New Delhi: Supreme Court of India is today hearing the 6 pleas on gay sex on Tuesday, in between the senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy stated that homosexuality is 'not normal' and it is 'against Hindutva'.

 He added that the country should invest in medical researchers to make sure if homosexuality can be cured.

"It is not a normal thing. We cannot celebrate it. It's against Hindutva. We should invest in medical research to see if it can be cured. Government should consider having a 7 or 9 judge bench," Subramanian Swamy was quoted by news agency ANI as saying.

The top court is hearing the crucial issue on a clutch of 6 pleas challenging Section 377 of the Indian Penal Court (IPC) which re-criminalization of consensual gay sex between consenting adults, rejecting the Centre's plea seeking adjournment of the proceedings.

 Worth mention here A newly re-constituted five-judge constitution bench has been formed for hearing the petitions challenging validity of section 377 of the IPC, which criminalizes unnatural sex between two consenting adults.

The new five-judge bench includes Chief Justice Dipak Misra, Justices R F Nariman, A M Khanwilkar, D Y Chandrachud and Indu Malhotra.
