MUMBAI: BJP leader Kirit Somaiya has slammed senior Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut for his statement that "wine is not liquor". Somaiya accused Sanjay Raut that Sanjay Raut is saying this because his two daughters are partners of a wine company and they have a lot of money in their business, which will give an annual profit of Rs 100 crore to Raut's family.

Kirit Somaiya, while holding a press conference on Sunday, January 30, 2022, made many serious allegations against Sanjay Raut. Talking to reporters, Kirit Somaiya said that the Maharashtra government has taken this decision to benefit the family of Sanjay Raut, who is in partnership with a wine company. Sanjay Raut has a stake in Maharashtra's big industrialist Ashok Garg's wine company named Magpie Global Limited. He has a lot of investment in this wine business. Both the daughters and wife of Sanjay Raut are directors in the company. The company is involved in the business of pubs, clubs, hotels and wine distribution. Due to the huge investment in the wine business, Sanjay Raut is supporting the decision to sell wines in malls and grocery stores and is engaged in making Maharashtra 'Madhya Rashtra'.

According to media reports, Somaiya has said that the company is involved in the distribution of liquor and Sanjay Raut's money is invested in the company. This is the reason why he is supporting the decision of the Uddhav government to allow the sale of liquor in supermarkets and walk-in stores. He said that considering the huge investment in the liquor business, Sanjay Raut is justifying the decision to sell liquor in supermarkets. Sanjay Raut is saying 'wine means no liquor' and saying that this decision will benefit the farmer.
