Kochi: In the Kerala gold smuggling case, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has claimed that the strings in the case are also connecting with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and his D-Company. The BJP has attacked CM Pinarai Vijayan over the issue. BJP national general secretary Murlidhar Rao has said that the matter has now been linked to the CM office. People of the Chief Minister's office has also been arrested in the case. However, the CM is still denying it.

Murlidhar further said that four agencies are examining different aspects in the Kerala gold smuggling case. NIA is looking into the terror funding angle in the case. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is also investigating the money laundering case. Several high profile people have already been named in the case. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has alleged that Swapna Suresh had taken funds from other countries.

The investigating agency claims that during interrogation, Swapna Suresh admitted that through former Kerala CM Principal Secretary M Shivshankar, he had a "link" with the CMO. According to the NIA, Shivshankar had advised Swapna on several issues. However, Shivshankar refused to help Swapna in diplomatically removing the gold-filled bag. NIA's Vijay Kumar has said this in court.
