Hyderabad: Opposition parties in India are accused of promoting hate speech on Facebook. Meanwhile, Facebook on Thursday banned BJP leader T Raja Singh from its platform and Instagram for violating its policy on content that promotes violence and hate.
It all started with news from the Wall Street Journal (WCJ), which stated that Facebook is supporting the policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the provocative statements of its party leader T Raja Singh are not removed it from its platform. Citing this news, opposition parties including Congress targeted the BJP.
A Facebook spokesperson said in an emailed statement that, "We have banned Raja Singh from Facebook for violating our policy. Our policy prohibits the promotion of violence, incitement of violence or spreading hate on our platform". The statement said that "The process of evaluation of potential violators is extensive and in accordance with this process, we have removed Raja Singh's account from Facebook".
