New Delhi: BJP's Lok Sabha MP Varun Gandhi has described himself as a Right-wing in a new book. His writings testify as a document of him being consistently progressive and liberal. In the recently published book "India Tomorrow: Conversations with the Next Generation of Political Leaders", a BJP MP called Jeremy Corbyn of Britain and Bernie Sanders of the US as political inspirations for advocating left-wing economic and social policies.
This book offers a glimpse of contemporary Indian politics to its readers through interviews of the main leaders of the 20 future generations of the country. In an interview with the authors of the book, Pradeep Chhibber and Harsh Shah, Varun Gandhi said, "I understand that if anyone looks at ideology or policy, I am a middle-left man. I am not a natural right. If you must have read all my articles written in the last 10 years, then my record has been consistently progressive and liberal. As a person, I have grown up listening to my conscience.''
Varun Gandhi belongs to the Gandhi-Nehru family and is the son of late Sanjay Gandhi and BJP MP Maneka Gandhi. In 2004, he joined the BJP. He reached the house in 2009 after winning his first election from Pilibhit Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh. He still represents this parliamentary constituency in Parliament.
