Samastipur: A BJP leader was shot dead in Bihar's Samastipur on Saturday evening. The murder took place in Siropatti village under the Khanpur police station area. According to eyewitnesses, two motorcycle-borne criminals barged into the BJP leader's house and opened fire at him. It is being said that the BJP leader died while being taken to the hospital.  

According to the news received, a gold trader and BJP district working committee member and Mandal in-charge Raghuveer Kumar Swarnkar alias Nathu Ji returned home from the shop on Saturday evening. He was accompanied by colleague Dilip Kumar. Then four criminals on two motorcycles entered his house. By the time Raghuveer could understand something, the criminals fired at him. Locals said that apart from the BJP leader, his aide Dilip Kumar was also shot in the hand in the attack.  

It is being said that after firing the bullet, the criminals fled with a bag present near the gold trader. The bag contained cash and jewellery. As soon as the news of this incident came to the police, the officers reached the spot and started investigating. At the same time, people blocked Samastipur Khanpur road for hours in protest against the murder of the BJP leader.
