Mumbai: BJP leader Ashish Shelar has written to the Maharashtra home minister and Mumbai police commissioner claiming that he has been called and threatened by an unidentified person. This was reported by an officer on Saturday.

MLA of Bandra (West) said in his letter that the caller abused him and threatened to kill him and his family members. Former Minister Shelar has also given details of two mobile numbers from which he was threatened and requested the police to take necessary action.

However, the officer did not elaborate on the reasons for the threat to Shelar. Meanwhile, Leader of opposition Devendra Fadnavis said in Nagpur on Saturday that Shelar (state) was vocal about "corruption" in the government. Ashish Shelar has often raised his voice against the government and exposed corruption," the former CM told reporters. That is why they have received threats. This case should be taken seriously by the police "
