Patna: There is an uproar all over the country over the issue of population control. In Bihar too, there is political mercury on it. In Bihar, BJP MLA Sanjeev Chaurasiya has taken CM, Nitish Kumar, to task on the issue, while the Congress says there is opposition to Nitish's model in the NDA. The Congress also said that the manner in which the deadlock in NDA is unfolding suggests that this government could hardly complete a term of 5 years.
Sanjeev Chaurasia, MLA from Digha in Patna, said the manner in which the UP government has decided to enact a law for population control is welcome and other states also need to follow such rules. Sanjeev Chaurasia defying Nitish's claims said that education and awareness are already taking place but some results are not coming out. When people are banned, they will benefit and the population will be controlled. He further said that the Congress dreams of Munger Lal on every issue, during his tenure there was more pressure on one section, not as much as was needed on the other class. The population control law in Bihar will be carried forward on a consensus basis.
Congress MLC Prem Chandra Mishra said Congress is of the view that the population cannot be forcibly controlled. The sterilization program was conducted in 1975 during the Emergency, but the objective could not be fulfilled. There were reports of coercion and Congress suffered. The Congress is of the opinion that there must be awareness in the society in such matters and this model is now being said by Nitish Kumar, who is the line of the Congress.
