Gurdaspur: At least 23 people have lost their lives in Batala in Gurdaspur district of Punjab on Wednesday evening, while 27 people are still said to be injured. Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat MP Sunny Deol expressed grief on this painful accident due to a loud explosion in the fireworks factory. According to the information, MP Sunny Deol has left for Batala to meet the victims.

According to the information, he will inspect relief operations and will also know the health of the injured. Along with Sunny Deol, Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Shwait Malik will also reach the spot and review the rescue work. After receiving information about the incident, Sunny Deol tweeted that, 'The information about the loss of life and property from the fire in the firecracker factory in Batala was very sad, I spoke to the District Deputy Commissioner. Teams of district administration and National Disaster Response Team are working on the spot.

According to the information given by the cabinet minister Sukhvinder Randhawa in the Punjab government, the family of each person who dies will be given two lakh rupees as compensation. Along with this, compensation of 50-50 thousand rupees has been announced to the injured persons, while the compensation of 25-25 thousand rupees has been said to the minor injured.
