AgustaWestland case: ED seeks judicial custody of Kamal Nath's nephew Ratul Puri

New Delhi: Ratul Puri, the nephew of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case related to the AgustaWestland helicopter scam, will be presented in Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi today. Ratul Puri was formally detained by the ED on Wednesday. The ED will today demand 14-day judicial custody of Ratul Puri from the court.

It is noteworthy that before this, Ratul Puri is in jail in another case of money laundering related to branch fraud. In fact, on September 3, in a bank fraud case, the ED took Ratul Puri in judicial custody for 14 days. The court sent Ratul Puri to judicial custody till 17 September. Meanwhile, his lawyers appealed to the court to provide necessary services to his client in jail.

The lawyers had said that there should be proper bedding arrangements for Ratul Puri to sleep, along with the medicines written by the doctors should be provided in the jail. The court also ordered the jail superintendent to provide medicines to the accused after consulting the visiting doctor of the jail. Apart from this, on the demand for other facilities, the court said that the jail superintendent can consider the appeal of the lawyers according to the rules.
