BJP workers staged a protest in front of the Pakistani High Commission on Wednesday against the demolition of the statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh in Pakistan. The protesters included leaders and activists of the Sikh branch of the BJP's Delhi unit, the Yuva Morcha, and the Purvanchal Morcha. He raised slogans against Pakistan PM Imran Khan demanding his apology.

The same protesters gathered in the three murti areas of Chanakyapuri. The police stopped them by installing a barricade near the High Commission. As a result, BJP workers said that the way the statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh has been demolished in Pakistan under the Taliban mentality, we want to say that the people of India and the BJP will not tolerate it. We demand that action should be taken against the culprits immediately and the organization which has done it should be banned.

He also said that he is not only demanding forgiveness from Imran Khan but also to assure him to stop the persecution of Hindus and Sikhs and demolition of their temples and statues. The Pakistani Government should also apologize and install a grand statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh at the place in Lahore where it was demolished. The statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, a 19th-century Sikh ruler, was demolished for the third time in Lahore, Pakistan. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi had also spoken about the case the previous day that such attacks on the cultural heritage of minority communities in Pakistan indicate the growing intolerance and lack of respect for minority communities in Pakistani society.
