BJP Unveils its Sankalp Patra for Delhi Elections, Check What Major Benefits

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released the first part of its manifesto - Sankalp Patra - for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, packed with significant promises to the residents of Delhi. BJP President JP Nadda announced the party’s plans, emphasizing that additional announcements will follow soon.

Key Highlights of BJP’s Sankalp Patra 

Support for Women

The BJP pledged a monthly financial assistance of Rs.2,500 for women under the Mahila Samridhi Yojana, which will be approved in the very first cabinet meeting.

Affordable Cooking Gas

To assist economically weaker families, the BJP plans to offer a Rs.500 subsidy on LPG cylinders. Additionally, two free cylinders will be distributed annually during Holi and Diwali.

Aid for Pregnant Women

As part of a strengthened Maternity Protection Scheme, the BJP proposes distributing six nutritional kits to pregnant women and providing them with Rs.30,000 in financial assistance.

Health Insurance under Ayushman Yojana

If elected, the BJP intends to implement the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat Yojana in Delhi, providing health insurance of up to Rs.10 lakh for senior citizens aged 70 and above. The scheme will also benefit 51 lakh individuals, with an additional Rs.5 lakh insurance coverage funded by the Delhi government.

Corruption Investigation in Mohalla Clinics

The BJP has alleged a Rs.300-crore corruption scandal in the Mohalla Clinics under the current administration. If elected, they promise to investigate the matter and review medicine contracts.

Increased Pension for Senior Citizens and Widows

The manifesto outlines a rise in pensions for senior citizens aged 60–70, increasing the amount from Rs.2,000 to Rs.2,500. Citizens above 70 years, including widows, will receive Rs.3,000.

Affordable Meals via Atal Canteens

The BJP aims to introduce the Atal Canteen Scheme to provide full meals at just Rs.5 in slum areas across Delhi.

Strengthening Existing Schemes

BJP assured that all public welfare programs initiated by the Arvind Kejriwal-led government, including free electricity and water, will remain operational but will be made more transparent and efficient.

Extensive Public Consultation

JP Nadda stated that the manifesto was crafted after engaging with 1.8 lakh people, including women, youth, slum dwellers, unorganized workers, and middle-class families. The BJP also held over 12,000 meetings and discussions, reaching every corner of Delhi through 41 LED vans.

Opposition Parties’ Promises

AAP’s Commitments: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has promised to continue its popular schemes like free electricity, water, and bus travel. The party also plans to provide Rs.2,100 monthly financial aid to women and free healthcare for all citizens aged above 60 in both government and private hospitals.

Congress’ Proposals: Meanwhile, The Congress Party has proposed affordable LPG cylinders priced at Rs.500, free ration kits, and free electricity for up to 300 units under its Mehngai Mukti Yojana. If electricity consumption exceeds 300 units, only the additional usage will be billed. Congress also promised Rs.2,500 monthly support for women and health insurance coverage of Rs.25 lakh.
