Bengaluru Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers reportedly forced a woman to remove an Islamic flag from her balcony and pressurised her to chant ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’. The video of the incident went viral on the internet. The incident took place at Bommanahalli area in Karnataka’s Bengaluru. The video shows the ‘BJP workers’ allegedly intimidating the woman to take off the flag. There is no confirmation whether an action has been initiated on the part of the Karnataka Police against the party workers.
Accrding to the reports, the men were campaigning for Tejasvi Surya, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Bengaluru South candidate.
Meanwhile, commenting on the video, Tanveer Ahmed, the national spokesperson of the Janata Dal (Secular), alleged that the man who is seen in the video is a corporator from the BJP. Ahmed told Times Now, “I am from Bengaluru South. I am very responsibly saying this. Congress member Kavitha Reddy has reported the matter and complained against it. They should win the election on the basis of performance, promises and future growth. They cannot stoop to such a cheap level.”
He further said, “Firstly, we all know that only through communal divide and polarisation, the BJP can win elections everywhere.”
