New Delhi: As the Lok Sabha elections draw nearer, political parties are intensifying their campaign efforts across Uttar Pradesh. In a bid to address concerns about potential instances of fake voting, particularly under the disguise of burqas, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has devised a strategy. The party's minority front has decided to deploy women workers as polling agents to monitor Muslim women voters.
In recent local body elections in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP demonstrated a concerted effort to integrate the Muslim community into its organizational structure, starting from the grassroots level. This move was notably successful, with the party appointing Muslim booth presidents in areas with a significant Muslim population. Muslims were also represented in committees formed for these booths. The BJP aims to engage all sections of society, including the Muslim community, many of whom have benefited from various welfare schemes implemented by the Modi government at the national level and the BJP-led state government in Uttar Pradesh.
The Uttar Pradesh BJP Minority Morcha has announced plans to station female workers from the minority community as polling agents at booths across the state. These agents will be tasked with overseeing the voting process, particularly among Muslim women voters. A total of 47 Lok Sabha seats have been earmarked for this initiative. The Muslim booth committee members of the BJP Minority Morcha will be strategically positioned at booths with a significant Muslim population. Each booth will have a committee member from the local area to ensure familiarity with the community. These committee members will be vigilant in identifying any instances of fake voting, particularly among individuals wearing burqas, and promptly report them to the relevant authorities. Additionally, officials from the Minority Morcha will also be present in the polling committees. The BJP has raised concerns about fake voting under the guise of burqas and has brought this issue to the attention of the Election Commission. This initiative will be implemented during the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
