This fort was built by the British 'East India Company' to keep their factories safe because in the last decade of the 17th century Nawab of Bengal Siraj-Ud-Daulah built the British. A special room of 18 feet long and 14 feet wide was also built in this fort, which was built in about 10 years, named 'Black Hole'. Two very small skylights were also made in it and due to which it was named 'The Black Hole' was lying there, so the British had built this room to punish petty criminals, but what did they know that this room would later become their own grave.

When Nawab Siraj-ud-daulah came to know about this, he warned the British not to increase their military power, but they paid special attention to it. Angered by this, on 5 June 1756, Nawab Siraj-ud-daulah went out with a large army to attack 'Fort William'.
