Wakanda Forever's first-weekend collection are in. The second installment in the Black Panther trilogy and the latest film in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it has so far made Rs. 50 crore in India and Rs. 2700 crore (USD 330 million).

As per the latest press release from Marvel, Black Panther Wakanda Forever's day three gross was Rs. 17.42 crore on Sunday. It earned Rs. 15.48 crore on Friday and Rs. 17.68 crore on Saturday.

As the first high-profile superhero movie with a predominately Black cast, the 2018 Black Panther movie marked a turning point for Disney and the sector. The film went on to earn approximately USD 1.4 billion globally, defying stereotypes that action films with people of colour wouldn't do well in other countries.

But tragedy occurred when Chadwick Boseman, the hero of the first movie, passed away in 2020. The sequel's creative team had to change course. Ryan Coogler, who is also the co-writer and director of the film, revised the plot to include the death of the protagonist and to introduce a new cast of Black female actors who will battle the villains in future sequels and spinoffs.

One of the few movies this year to be able to keep audiences returning to theatres in India and beyond is Black Panther Wakanda Forever. Since the pandemic was declared to be over earlier this year, the movie theatre industry has experienced a major global decline. A lack of blockbuster releases this year and competition from streaming rebels have caused a few theatre companies to go out of business or are about to do so globally.
