Kochi: The film 'The Kerala Story', based on love jihad and religious conversion, remains in the news. On the one hand permission was obtained to show it in Britain and on the other hand the filmmaker got some of the Love Jihad victims to interact with the journalists. In a press conference, the film's director Sudipto Sen said, “There are two Keralas in Kerala. A Kerala - like a movie, postcard, backwaters, beautiful landscape, kalaripayattu, dance, martial arts etc. The second Kerala resides in its northern part, where Malappuram, Kasaragod, Kozhikode, which connects to South Karnataka including Mangaluru. This is the hub of the terrorist network."
While discussing about Kerala, Sudipto Sen said, “The more you listen to here, the more you will know what is happening behind the scenes in the state which is at the forefront of female literacy. If you want to know the truth, then you should go to Kasargod, Malappuram and find out whether this story (of the film) is true or false." Another person involved in the production of the film said, “CNN International has a documentary where Sharia law is implemented in some villages in Kerala. We are talking about that 100 percent literate state, where every village is governed by Sharia law. I didn't even know much before making this film. One of the love jihad victim women who came in the press conference said, “There have been cases from Kerala where women have gone to join ISIS. Recently Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan revealed that Prajru, Who had changed his name after conversion to Mohammad Amin. I am reading part of a news clip."
The woman further said that CM Pinarayi Vijayan while speaking in connection with the Narcotics Jihad had said that the name of Prajru, a resident of Balusherry, has been included in the list of Malayalees who have joined ISIS. The woman who accompanied the filmmakers took Chief Minister Vijayan's statement further and said, “Prajru did four marriages. She had converted to Islam three years ago in order to get married. Despite several housefull shows, its screening in the UK was cancelled. The reason for this was that the Censor Board of Britain did not issue the certificate for the release of the film. The board refused to give the certificate. However, the film's director Sudipto himself tweeted and informed that now he has got permission to release and it will be released soon.
