On March 9, thirty minutes before the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination commenced, the photographs of three pages of the Book-keeping and Accountancy question paper went viral on WhatsApp.
Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education(MSBSHSE) reported that the Navi Mumbai police allegedly leaked the question paper.
The Cyber Crime cell of Navi Mumbai has started investigating the matter. The board officials have given a written complaint to the cyber crime cell.
Over three lakh students appeared for the examination and the board officials confirmed that the alleged leak was only limited to Mumbai division. "We received complaints from Mumbai division. It looks like a copying case prima facie. We are investigating. As of now, re-exam is not being discussed," said Krishnakumar Patil, secretary, Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.
"We have received the application filed by Education Board members. No FIR has been registered in the matter as yet. We will conduct investigations and then decide on the further course of action," said Police Inspector Pratibha Shendge, Cyber Crime Cell, Navi Mumbai police.
Many papers in 2015 Board Exams have leaked via WhatsApp. In February, BSEB inter-paper leaked on WhatsApp in Gopalganj whereas, in Aurangabad, four teachers were nabbed for leaking the Mathematics question paper
