Drug Smuggling Case: Bollywood Actor Chrisann Pereira released from Sharjah jail

Mumbai: Bollywood  Actor Chrisann Pereira, who was lodged in a Sharjah jail since April 1 after being allegedly framed in a narcotics case, was released on Wednesday, April  26. The actor is likely  to return to India within 2 days, said Joint Commissioner of Police (crime) Lakhmi Gautam.

Chrisann Pereira, who is detained in Sharjah Jail, was the subject of an investigation by the Crime Branch, according to Lakhmi Gautam, Joint Commissioner of the Mumbai Police.

Anthony Paul and Rajesh Bobate, the primary defendants in the case, were detained on April 24 after the Crime Branch filed a case. The Ministry of External Affairs was given access to the full report on the arrest and case investigation.

The United Arab Emirates government and the Drugs Information Agency received the information from the Ministry of External Affairs.

She was sent to Sharjah under the pretense of auditioning for an international web series by accused Anthony and another accused Rajesh Bobate (Ravi), but instead, she was given a memento containing drugs, leading to her arrest in Sharjah, according to the full investigation shared by the Crime Branch.

On April 25, the Mumbai Crime Branch detained two people for allegedly sending actor Chrisann Pereira a memento (trophy) that contained drugs and asked her to transfer it to a person in Sharjah in order to frame her in a drug case.
Anthony Paul, a 35-year-old bakery owner from Borivali, is accused of framing Pereira in a narcotics case, and Pereira has been detained in a Sharjah prison since that date. Paul approached the actor who had previously appeared in the movie "Sadak 2" and "Batla House," using his friend Rajesh Borate as a disguise for talent manager Ravi.
