STF arrests 2 smugglers in Bihar, weapons seized

PATNA: The Special Task Force (STF) of Bihar detained two armed smugglers and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition at the Arrah railway station in Bihar's Bhojpur district, an official said on Monday, April 17.

The accused have been identified as Hare Ram, a resident of Dehri village under Mayiel police station in Devwaria district and Sumit Singh, a native of Chandpur village in Raebareli district of Uttar Pradesh.

On Sunday, they were travelling in New Delhi-Rajgir Shramjeevi Express AC coach B1. The officals said to have information on two smugglers using the Shramjeevi Express. The STF sleuths extensively investigated the AC coaches as the train arrived at the Arrah railway station. 200 live cartridges in a bag, two standard Webley & Scott revolvers, one pistol, and two cell phones were all discovered.

The suspects said during questioning that they had boarded at the New Delhi train station and had been ordered to transfer the weapons and ammunition to the Bihiya subdivision of the Bhojpur district. The accused had acquired the shipment of firearms from a guy in Haryana's Jhajjar district's Bahadurgarh town.

The Bihar Police and STF are on high alert following the murder of Atiq Ahmed and his brother in front of the media in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Every train leaving Uttar Pradesh is being checked carefully.
