In a discussion about what a pan-Indian film is all about, Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar shared his thoughts on south Indian cinema, particularly Telugu films. In recent years, even Hindi films have not done as well as Telugu films, according to Karan. He also uses the example of Allu Arjun's newly released film 'Pushpa' to prove Telugu films' commercial viability.

"Allu Arjun's 'Pushpa' was launched with only a few posters and a trailer, with no other marketing. Despite the fact that Allu Arjun is not well-known in the north, the film did well at the box office. Can you imagine the scene? This is now known as the 'pan-India mania.' "According to the Bollywood director.

According to Karan, the term "pan-Indian cinema" emerged with S.S. Rajamouli's "Baahubali." He said that 'Baahubali 1' grossed Rs 112 crore in the Hindi belt, but Rajamouli's last film, 'Makki,' only made Rs 1 crore.

Karan also claimed that Rajamouli's next magnum epic 'RRR' will be one of the biggest openers, with the Hindi version alone earning Rs 30 crore on its first day in India.
