Mahavir Shah was born on April 5, 1960, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He was married to Chetna Shah. Mahavir and Chetna have a daughter and a son. In fact, Mahavir was fond of acting since childhood and he was a Bollywood and TV actor as well as a theatre artist. Mahavir Shah made his Bollywood debut in 1977 with the film 'Ab Kya Hoga' and in this film, he played the role of a driver. After that Mahavir became known for negative roles in Bollywood films. Mahavir Shah has been identified mostly for his films like Ankush (1986), Dayawan (1988), Tezaab (1988), Narasimha (1991), Shola and Shabnam (1992), Tiranga (1992), Raja Babu (1994), Coolie No. 1 (1995), Judwaa (1997), Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (1998), Mehndi (1998), Kachche Dhaage (1999), Haseena Maan Jayegi (1999), Badshah (1999), Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani (2000), Bichhu (2000) and Kyoki Mein Jhooth Nahi Bolta (2001).

Although Mahavir Shah went to the US for a two-month vacation with his wife and children in 2000, he died in a car accident in Chicago on August 31, 2000.
