Actors and directors often robbed the success of Hindi films. The whole world only praises them. From the trailer launch of the movies to the success party, they live in limelight. In the midst of all this, writers are always kept at a secondary level. Once scripts are taken they are often sidelined. Television shows and web series have the same fate, but now a special initiative to honor them has started. The artists are honored in many industry awards, but now for the first time, the Screen Writers Association of India is going to honor writers and lyricists of Hindi feature films, television shows, and web shows.

The Screen Writers Association of India (SWA) has announced the SWA Award 2020. This will be the first such award ceremony in the country which can be entirely for writers. Renowned writers of cinematography will be part of its jury. The awards are being instituted as the most prestigious awards for screenwriters, lyricists, and fiction writers in India. The preparation is that the awards of literary organizations can be brought at par.

The first awards can honor writers of Hindi feature films, television shows, and web series released in 2019. A total of 15 categories of these awards have been created. Writers will have to apply for the award themselves and these applications can be made from 20 December 2019 to 20 January 2020.
