Mumbai: Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has once again suffered a setback. In fact, the Bombay High Court has dismissed a petition filed by Anil Deshmukh. According to the information received, Anil Deshmukh had sought quashing of the FIR lodged against him by the CBI in a corruption case. Now the court also dismissed the state government's plea challenging excerpts from the CBI FIR against Anil Deshmukh. Let me tell all of you that Justice SS Shinde and Justice NJA Jamdar bench said, "The petition is worth dismissing.''

Let us also tell all of you that the CBI had registered an FIR against Deshmukh and other unidentified persons on April 24 following a high court order for a preliminary inquiry on April 5. Deshmukh had to resign as home minister in April this year following a money laundering case involving multi-crore bribery and recovery gang cases. The ED, which is investigating the case, had recently arrested Anil Deshmukh's personal secretary Sanjeev Palande and personal assistant Kundan Shinde.

Earlier, he had raided the residences of the duo and NCP leader in Mumbai and Nagpur. In fact, the ED had registered a case against Deshmukh and others after a court order case and a preliminary CBI inquiry. The court had asked the CBI to probe the bribery allegations leveled against Deshmukh by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh. However, Anil Deshmukh has denied all these allegations.
