Mumbai: Param Bir Singh had written a letter to Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray after he was removed from the post of Mumbai Police Commissioner. It had accused state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh of giving a target of recovery of Rs. 100 crore to suspended police officer Sachin Vaze. Thereafter, he had approached the Apex Court to look into the matter while challenging his transfer.

But the Supreme Court had asked him to go to the Bombay High Court, where the case was heard on Wednesday (March 31, 2021). The Bombay High Court has reprimanded him and said that if he is not registering FIR over any offence even after being a police officer, it means that he has failed to discharge his duties. A bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice GS Kulkarni heard his plea.

The High Court also did not order an inquiry against Anil Deshmukh. The court asked Param Bir Singh why he did not lodge FIR, while it is his duty? The Apex Court said that only sending a letter to the CM does nothing, it can be asked for a reply from Param Bir Singh.
