Mumbai: The Bombay High Court is likely to hear the bail application of Arnab Goswami, the promoter and senior journalist of Republic TV, arrested in the suicide case. Arnab and two others have been sent to 14-day judicial custody by the Alibag court in a case of abetment to suicide. The Raigad police arrested Arnab from his Mumbai home on Wednesday in a case of abetment to suicide.
After the arrest, the police produced him before the court from where the court sent the senior TV journalist to judicial custody till November 18. The court turned down the demand to be handed over to police custody. Police along with Arnab have arrested two other people, Feroz Sheikh and Nitesh Darda in this case. These two accused have also been sent to judicial custody. The Alibaug police wanted to interrogate Arnab in custody, but the court rejected his demand. Police say that Goswami is an influential person and he can influence the investigation process.
Arnab's lawyer Gaurav Parkar told the media on Wednesday that the Editor-in-Chief of Republic TV has filed an application for bail. The Alibaug court has ordered the investigating officer to file an answer in the case. Please tell that after Arnab was arrested and brought to Alibag police, the police presented him before the local court. The senior journalist was then taken for a medical test. Arnab accused the police of assault during his arrest, but the court rejected the charge.
