CHAMARAJANAGAR:  Karnataka  Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday slammed the Congress and said the party was responsible for Mahadayi dispute. He mentioned, "The Congress Party feels that people have forgotten, but they very well know about that party.

"The Congress announced two conventions in regard to Mahadayi, Krishna and Schedule Case/Scheduled Tribe reservation. It was the Congress party that was responsible for the Mahadayi project becoming controversial," he said.
"The party chief Sonia Gandhi during the poll campaign in Goa said that not even a drop of water will be diverted anywhere. What right they have, since they failed to do anything when in power from 2013 to 2018. The Congress Party did not bother to look at Schedule Case/Scheduled Tribe   for four decades," CM Bommai questioned.

Bommai said, Siddaramaiah, the leader of the opposition in the State Legislative Assembly, has said that internal reservations will be made if the Congress takes back power. Siddaramaiah simply lit the lamp and remained silent during a convention to table the report while he was the chief minister, he said.

"People's thoughts are what drives all of his acts. The convention was held to keep it under wraps. They are unable to keep tricking the populace. Although the Congress leaders had pledged to offer internal reservations during the previous Assembly elections, did they exert any pressure on the Congress-JD(S) coalition government to do so?" Bommai questioned.

The CM said there should be no misunderstanding over the SC/ST quota and announced that the proposal would be sent on Wednesday.

The Mahadayi row is over the sharing of water from the Mahadayi River that flows between Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
