New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid, while clarifying the controversy over his new book, said that he has not described Hindutva and ISIS as one but 'similar.' Talking to the media after an event in UP, the former Union Minister said that the enemies of Sanatan Dharma are trying to defame the religion. Salman Khurshid's book 'Sunrise over Ayodhya Nationhood in Our Times' on Ayodhya has sparked controversy in the country for allegedly comparing Hindutva with ISIS and there is a demand for a ban on the book.

Speaking on the occasion of the Kalki Mahotsav in Sambhal, he said, "I am visiting Kalki Dham. If I had difficulty with any religion, I would not have come here. I say that Sanatan Dharma is going to spread peace in the world. It seems that some people are trying to defame Sanatan Dharma. They are enemies of eternal religion and are afraid that their truth will come out. They will ban any book from which the truth comes out.''

He added, "I also said that organizations like ISIS and Boko Haram defame Islam, but no supporter of Islam opposed it. Nobody said that I am tarnishing the image of their religion. I did not say that ISIS and Hindutva are the same, I said they are similar. I regret that I have written this book in English. They (protesters) seem weak in English. If you don't understand, get it translated.''
