Bengaluru: After coming to power, the Congress of Karnataka has announced to start Indira Canteens once again. CM Siddaramaiah said that he will start Indira Canteens again. He has said that the canteen will be started within a month. This canteen will help the marginalized people and they will be able to get breakfast for Rs 5 and full stomach meal for Rs 10. In the Karnataka elections, the Congress party had promised to restart this canteen.
Indira Canteens were started by the previous Congress government. However, the canteen was shut down by the BJP government. In fact, when former Congress national president Rahul Gandhi visited Karnataka, he met some food delivery workers. Rahul Gandhi had promised to restart the canteen.
Now the Bengaluru Municipality has prepared the menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner of Indira Canteen. Different types of dishes will be made daily in Indira Canteen. The breakfast will include upma, kesari bhat, besibelle bhat, Pongal and idli and other dishes. It is said that the tendering process for this has started. Of the 175 canteens, 163 are already operational in the state.
