NEW DELHI: Manish Sisodia's request for the Supreme Court of India to hear his appeal against the CBI's arrest was denied. He should appeal to the High Court, the court suggested. Before the bench headed by Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud, Abhishek Manu Singhvi requested a hearing on Sisodia's urgent hearing of the appeal.
The Apex court informed the detained AAP leader, "Simply because something happened in Delhi, you cannot come here...You have your remedies." This is a developing story. More information will be updated...
A special court had earlier on Monday given the Central Bureau of Investigation a five-day detention order for Sisodia so that he could be questioned in a jail cell. The legislator was detained on Sunday after being questioned for a considerable amount of time over the excise policy scam.
Yesterday, a Delhi court sent Manish Sisodia to five-day CBI custody till March 4. Earlier in the day, the CBI produced Sisodia, arrested in a corruption case related to the excise policy, before a city court and sought five-day custody. Sisodia had claimed that there was no evidence against him and opposed the CBI’s plea for his remand.
