The meeting was held on Wednesday amidst opposition from farmers' organizations on three bills passed by the Centre's Modi government in the last monsoon session for farmers. The meeting included 30 farmers' organizations, though the farmers came out of the meeting due to the absence of the agriculture minister. The meeting was held with the Agriculture Secretary while the farmers demanded that Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar be present.

Due to the absence of the Tomar, the farmers got angry and raised slogans within the ministry and tore the pages of agricultural laws. He also said that his agitation will continue. After passing the farmer bills, the farmers are of the constant view that they will be left at the mercy of the corporates and the agricultural bulk will not get the minimum support price of their produce through APMC markers.

Indian Farmers Union (Rajwal) chief Balbir Singh Rajwal had said that a seven-member committee has been set up to discuss with the centre. The Committee comprises of Balbir Singh Rajewal, Darshanpal, Jagjit Singh Dalwal, Jagmohan Singh, Kulwant Singh, Surjit Singh, and Satman Singh Sahni. "Our three members will attend the meeting in Delhi," said Sukhdev Singh Kokrikalan, general secretary of BKU (Virahan). BKU (Dakunda) President Buta Singh Burjil had said that the state-wide agitation, including ' Rail Roko ', will continue. "We will set a further action plan in the meeting on October 15," he said. '
