NEW DELHI: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi today, December 2022,  said a source.

The Minister has been admitted into the private ward. More details are awaited

The 63-year-old has been admitted in a private ward of the hospital. She was taken to the hospital around 12 noon.

The Finance Minister is scheduled to present the Union Budget on February 1, 2023. She, on Friday, indicated that her upcoming Budget will continue to push growth on the back of public spending as she said it will "follow the spirit" of earlier Budgets. She hold the pre-Budget consultation meetings for Budget 2023-24 held in virtual mode from November 21-28.

Last week, she said that the government is keeping a close watch on inflation to ensure there is no surge in prices. The FM  also exuded confidence that India will succeed in handling inflation better as it has already put in place a 'very good framework' in place to address supply-side pressures on food prices. The retail inflation based on the consumer price index (CPI) has remained above the Reserve Bank's comfort level of 6 per cent since January.
