NEW DELHI: Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who was detained in the excise policy scandal case, has been sent to the judicial custody by the Rouse Avenue Court till 5 April, 2023.

Manish Sisodia appeared before the honourable  Delhi court at the end of his remand period in a money laundering case connecting to alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of the excise policy of Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi.

During the hearing, Manish Sisodia requested the honourable court to permit him to carry some religious and spiritual books during his judicial custody. To which, the court has asked him to move an application in this regard and we will permit it.

The CBI arrested Sisodia in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi liquor or excise policy for 2021-22. The CBI had recorded the statement of the AAP leader for the first time on March 7 for about five hours.

Earlier The AAP vehemently disputed the claim that the Delhi government's excise policy, which grants licences to liquor sellers, promoted cartelization and favoured some dealers who reportedly paid bribes for it. After the policy was later changed and the Delhi LG suggested a CBI investigation, the ED filed a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act against the same accused.
